What is Geo-Marketing?
The best answer to the question “What is geo-marketing” is this: It’s direct mail on steroids.
Well who needs more direct mail?
Exactly.
Here’s the life of a Direct Mail Campaign:
- The advertiser uses the Direct Mail company’s tracking software to create a target profile. Example: “We want Males, 35-55 who make more than 200K in these zip codes who own sports cars.”
- The mail is dispatched via the postal service to the target’s mailbox.
- The target person, shuffles out to the mailbox in their bathrobe to collect the mail. They sort through it, keep a few bills, look for checks and birthday cards and dump all the direct mail — aja JUNK MAIL — in the garbage and re-enter their home.
Let’s go the replay: ADVERTISEMENT PRINTED –> MAILED –> RECEIVED AT MAILBOX –> DUMPED IN GARBAGE.
Geo-Targeting Offers a Longer, More Effective Lifecycle
The Rule of 7 states that a consumer will see an advertisement or message a minimum of seven times before they interact with it.
The Rule of 7 asserts that a potential customer should encounter a brand’s marketing messages at least seven times before making a purchase decision. When it comes to engagement for your marketing campaign, this principle emphasizes the importance of repeated exposure for enhancing recognition and improving retention. Repeated exposure is vital because it builds familiarity and credibility, fostering trust and influencing your audience’s behavior.
How Geofencing and Geotargeting work
Geofencing and geotargeting are two different ways to plan an advertising campaign. And you do both at the same time.
Geofencing — Let’s say you wanted to fence your retail location and serve new offers and benefits to your customers. Or you wanted to reach fans at a sports venue. Or you wanted to target your competitor’s location and start marketing to their customers.
We use our software to “draw a digital fence” around a series of locations. Anyone who has a mobile phone, PC or tablet inside that fence will start to organically see your ads as they surf the internet and visit popular apps. We have complete control over the target profile and can be as broad or specific as you want.
We do this in combination with geotargeting.
Geotargeting is more like the direct mail drop. We pick zip codes, neighborhoods, entire areas and create a specific customer profile. If a customer in that area fits your profile, they start to see your ads.
Ad creation
We create an A/B set of ads and messages. We can tweak the targeting and locations for these ads or we can run them in tandem. You can use one ad for an offer and another for a simple brand message.
The ads are linked to YOUR WEBSITE and can put customers one click away from a purchase, inquiry or coupon.
Generally, users will click on an ad after 5- or 10- views.
